Executive Summary

We’re creating a Clearbit competitor for B2B marketing and sales people for lead generation. This product will be rolled out in two distinct phases.
We launched a LinkedIn scraper Chrome Extension and acquired paying users (but a high amount of churn). The issue is that our users are demanding email address finding built in. When we built and then tried integrating email finding, we realized our technical debt/non-testable code is off the charts and we no longer can continue working off of the existing code base. We need to redo it from the ground up, test driven development first!
We’re looking to bring on an additional team member to aid our product development efforts, with the opportunity of full-time employment contingent on performance. We’re at over 7000 monthly users right now. We are funded, and this is our flagship product. We have a suite of complementary products to launch afterwards. Based on performance, developers will be paid either on a contract basis, salary, or salary + profit share/equity.

Responsibilities (High-Level Overview)

  • Work alongside our current developer(s) to collaborate on new feature launches
  • Rebuilding our Chrome Extension codebase based on existing code
  • Continuous integration + automated tests (we set up CircleCI + headful puppeteer + Jest which will need to run the Chrome Extension’s tests!)
  • Integrate email finding in the Chrome Extension (we have this all figured out and we have prototyped a working solution already.)

V1 Product Links

This is our proof-of-concept, with over 7000 active users - we are in the middle of a complete overhaul to relaunch our V2 with the most highly requested features, bug fixes, and new branding.

Compensation

Compensation will vary depending on employment agreement & development experience. We may choose to work together on a contract basis, as part-time employment, or a full-time work agreement. Contractors will be paid a flat amount, whereas part time will consist of a salary, and full time will consist of a salary with optional equity/profit sharing. If you’re within the United States, we’ll do ACH payments. If not, we prefer to send crypto (e.g. USDC.)

Project Background Extended

I wanted to give you a quick history of what’s gone on in so far: We launched our linkedin scraper and got a decent amount of users pretty much entirely from inbound/passive which is nice!
We have a really high churn rate though because people expect this to also include email finding. So we prototyped all of that and have it figured out, but now to integrate has been a total mess.
I love typescript and have been coding since 2012. I've only learned code by doing (client work, never went to school for it or anything) so i'm really good at getting something up and running/prototyped and launched for clients but never actually attempted my own saas and managing/extending a single codebase perpetually which comes with a different set of challenges.
I want to have a test-driven developer help me rebuild this basically from the ground up so that we can continue to extend the codebase (the current code was quickly done by me. it works, but it’s “untestable” as my developer colleagues have told me.)
Currently have (headful!) puppeteer on circleci on git push which is magic. The next steps will be to start rebuilding the current codebase AND making automated tests for them.
Basically the idea is proven and Dawson specializes in direct response marketing (all this marketing data/scraping stuff, he has an agency that is a few years old already and very good at email deliverability + data sourcing).
